Justin Knoepfel (Music) was awarded the 2024 Dr. Carlo A. Sperati Award at Luther College on October 27. Carlo Sperati, a pillar of Luther College and the Lutheran music tradition, was the conductor of the Luther College Concert Band for 38 years until his retirement in 1943. His work ethic and demand for perfection and patience when working with music students are part of the identity of the Luther College music department to this day. This award recognizes those traits in music educators as they follow in Sperati’s footsteps.
