Jeff Ford, 2023 Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence Winner

Jeff Ford (Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics) was selected as the 2023 recipient of the Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence. Presented each year at the final faculty meeting, this award recognizes a Gustavus non-tenure-track faculty member for significant contributions to teaching and learning.

Erik Gulbranson, 2023 Mansergh Faculty Scientific Research Award Winner

Erik Gulbranson (Environment, Geography, and Earth Sciences) was selected as the 2023 recipient of the Mansergh Faculty Scientific Research Award. Presented each year at the final faculty meeting, this award recognizes a Gustavus faculty member for an outstanding peer-reviewed publication that contributes to the scholarly achievement and reputation of the faculty and the College.

Kate Aguilar, 2023 Swenson-Bunn Memorial Award for Teaching Winner

Kate Aguilar (History) was selected as the 2023 recipient of the Swenson-Bunn Memorial Award for Teaching. Joaquin Villanueva, 2023 Faculty Scholarly Accomplishment Award Winner

Joaquín Villanueva (Environment, Geography, and Earth Sciences) was selected as the 2023 recipient of the Gustavus Faculty Scholarly Accomplishment Award. Presented each year at Honors Day, this award is the highest accolade a Gustavus faculty member can receive for distinguished scholarly achievements.

Kate Aguilar (History) was selected for the CIC Faculty Seminar on the Legacies of American Slavery at Yale (Summer 2023), along with the Southern Historical Association’s Junior Scholars’ Workshop (2023-2024). She was also awarded the 2023 North American Society for Sport Historians Dissertation Award.

Peg O’Connor (Philosophy) published The Sober Philosopher Workbook for Exploring Addiction and Creating Recovery (Wildhouse Publications, 2023). Her essay, “Nothing Says Resentment Like Unfulfilled Expectations,” appears in the May issue of Psychology Today magazine.
