    Yumiko Oshima-Ryan (Music) was selected to perform at The Sixty-Sixth National Conference of The College Music Society in Miami, Florida. She performed “Techno Etude II (2020), three movements of solo piano work by Karen Tanaka (b. 1961 – ), at the Showcase Performance III on Saturday, October 28th, Miami Marriott Dadeland.

    Brandon Dean (Music) was selected as the 2022 recipient of the Gustavus Faculty Service Award. Presented each year at Founder’s Day, this award is the highest accolade a Gustavus faculty member can receive for distinguished service activities.

    Yumiko Oshima-Ryan (Music) had a new release, “Takashi Yoshimatsu Piano Works for the Left Hand,” from the Naxos Music Library – Japanese Classics series. The album was recommended in one of the major music magazines, (レコード芸術) “Art of Records,” August issue as the August Special Edition. You can listen to the album on Spotify.

    Dave Stamps (Music) produced Un[chart]ed Territory, March 18-20 for the International Society of Jazz Arrangers & Composers (ISJAC), of which he is a co-founder. The virtual conference featured performances, panel discussions, masterclasses, and poster sessions and was attended by nearly 1,000 registrants spanning 28 countries.

    Rebekah Richards (Music) published an article entitled “Exploring the Tactile Foundation of Sightplaying” in the summer 2020 edition of Piano Magazine (a journal published by the Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy.) Richards was also included in a New York Times feature about how people are adjusting to work from home.

    Dave Stamps and Mara Klein received a grant from the Carl and Verna Schmidt Foundation to help support the 2019 Jazz Jamboree, an event which invites area high school jazz bands and their directors for a day of jazz performance, masterclasses, and a community concert featuring jazz headliners and the Gustavus Jazz Band.
