The Provost’s Office is excited to extend a warm welcome to Benedict Kongyir, joining the Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics department in Fall 2026!
What excites you most about joining Gustavus Adolphus College?
What excites me most about joining Gustavus is the opportunity to work closely with students in a supportive, student-centered environment. I look forward to helping students build confidence in statistics, connect quantitative ideas to real-world problems, and grow academically and personally. I am also excited to collaborate with colleagues in the Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics Department and become part of the broader Gustavus community.
Briefly describe your professional interests.
My professional interests include statistics education, applied statistics, and data analysis. I am particularly interested in helping students develop statistical thinking, use data to solve real-world problems, and become confident in applying statistical methods across disciplines.
What aspects of teaching do you find most rewarding?
The most rewarding part of teaching is seeing students grow in confidence and realize that they can succeed in statistics. I especially enjoy those moments when a challenging concept begins to make sense and students can connect what they have learned to real-world problems.
What are you looking forward to exploring or engaging with in the Saint Peter community outside of your academic work?
I am looking forward to exploring the Saint Peter community, learning more about the local culture, and participating in community and campus events. I also look forward to building connections beyond the classroom.
