Faculty Spotlight: Kathy Lund Dean

Kathy Lund Dean (Business and Economic) has published “‘I’m Not That Kind of Doctor:’ Experiential Learning as the Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Superpower” in the Journal of Management Inquiry. She argues that faculty should resist expectations and assumptions that they can serve as mental health providers for students. Instead, she links World Health Organization wellbeing and mental health guidelines to experiential learning outcomes, suggesting four steps faculty can take to support students’ lifelong health using pedagogy, not quasi-clinical interventions.
