Kathleen Keller published her first book Colonial Suspects: Suspicion, Imperial Rule, and Colonial Society in Interwar French West Africa. The book, published by University of Nebraska Press, appears in the series France Overseas. Colonial Suspects is a history of policing and traces the development of the concept of “suspicious” persons, strategies of political surveillance, and the lives of people deemed suspicious.
