  • Lisa Heldke (Philosophy)

    Lisa Heldke co-teaches the UVM John Dewey Kitchen Institute with Cynthia Belliveau every June. In the program, they emphasize the pedagogical power of the kitchen and how to use cooking to teach any topic within a frame of collaboration and cooperation.     Pamela Conners published an article, “Constructing Economic and Civic Values through Public Policy Debate: The Case of the National Housing Act of 1934” in the fall 2017 issue of Rhetoric and Public Affairs.

  • Paschal Kyoore (Modern Language, Literature, and Cultures), Ursula Lindqvist (Scandinavian Studies), and Kathleen Keller (History)

    Paschal Kyoore, Ursula Lindqvist, and Kathleen Keller represented Gustavus at an African studies conference hosted by Saint Olaf College titled “Africa in the 20th century classroom.” Keller also presented a paper titled “Myths, Misconceptions, History, and Stereotypes: Teaching about African ‘tribes’.”

    Chris Gilbert was selected as the 2017 recipient of the Gustavus Faculty Service Award. Presented each year at Founder’s Day, this award is the highest accolade a Gustavus faculty member can receive for distinguished service activities.

    Chad Winterfeldt recently lead a recital and hymn festival at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Falls Church, Virginia. The program featured music of the Lutheran chorale tradition to celebrate the observance of Reformation 500.
