    Scott Ickes published his co-edited interdisciplinary volume on northeast Brazil, titled Brazil’s Black Mecca: Bahia Reconsidered. It came out this month with Michigan State University Press. Ickes also contributed a chapter, “Behold Our City: Conflicting mid-century modernist visions of Afro-Bahia.”

    Laurent Déchery published a book, Lire est un roman (Reading Is a Novel). It is a mix of literary promenades, essays on reading, interpretation of Patrick Modiano’s “Chien de Printemps” and Diderot’s tales, and autobiographical pieces.

  • Hayley Russell (Health and Exercise Science)

    Hayley Russell, with colleagues and a former student from the University of Minnesota, published an article in Sport Sciences for Health examining if core training and plyometric training can improve performance and prevent injury and muscle damage in marathon runners.

    Rose Jost was just awarded the State Community Health Services Advisory Committee (SCHSAC) Award for Ourstanding Dedication to Local Public Health, awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the promotion and implementation of local public health in Minnesota.
