Marcia Bunge has co-edited an interdisciplinary collection of essays entitled Nordic Childhoods 1700-1960: From Folk Beliefs to Pippi Longstocking and published by Routledge. The book was part of a major research project on the history of childhood funded by a $1.3 million grant from the Norwegian Research Council and hosted by the University of Oslo. Bunge has served as one of five international “core collaborators” for the project (2014-2017), which received top ratings from the Norwegian Research Council. The project supported various research initiatives, including two books also recently published by Routledge: Children and Everyday Life in the Roman and Late Antique World (co-edited by Christian Laes and Ville Vuolanto) and Childhood in History: Perceptions of Children in the Ancient and Medieval Worlds (co-edited by Reidar Aasgaard and Cornelia Horn).
