Faculty Spotlight: Sarah Hauss

Sarah Hauss (Theatre and Dance) received a $10,000 Metropolitan Regional Arts Grant to present a choreographers evening called Inbox@ArtBox in the Twin Cities. Numerous Gustavus dance alumni were selected by a selection panel to perform in the event.

Faculty Spotlight: Larissa McConnell

Larissa McConnell (Theatre and Dance) has a solo exhibition, “Graftworks,” which showcases her fiber art at the Arts Center of Saint Peter March 6-28. A reception will be held March 7 from 3-5 p.m.

Melissa Rolnick (Theatre and Dance)

Melissa Rolnick presented at the International Body IQ Somatics Festival in Berlin, Germany in November 2019. She taught a workshop called “MEISA for Older Adults.” MEISA (movement-exploration-imagination-sensation-awareness) is a developing contemplative movement practice.

Jill Patterson (Theatre and Dance)

Jill Patterson was chosen through a juried selection process to present at the National Dance Educators Organization National Conference 2019 in Miami, Florida. Her presentation, “Utilizing the Creative Process to Cultivate Empathetic and Compassionate Movers” entailed her pedagogical process for the Guststavus ARTS credit class Contemporary Modern Dance I.

Jill Patterson (Theatre and Dance)

Jill Patterson performed “The solo, Legacy 2: It takes the dark a long time” in the Anderson Theatre at Gustavus in May 2018 and at the Art Box Theatre in Minneapolis in June 2018.

Melissa Rolnick (Theatre and Dance)

Melissa Rolnick received a Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council Mid-Artist Grant from funds provided by the McKnight Foundation.

Amy Seham (Theatre and Dance)

Northwestern University Press has invited Amy Seham to write a follow-up to her first book, Whose Improv Is It, Anyway? The new book is expected in 2019.

Henry MacCarthy (Theatre and Dance)

Henry MacCarthy was the guest stage director for Opera Omaha’s production of Opera Outdoors at Turner Park in Omaha, NE this past Friday, September 9, 2016. The production featured soprano Leah Partridge, tenor Jonathan Boyd, and the Opera Omaha Chorus and Children’s Chorus, conducted by Aaron Breid. The events were attended by over 2,000 guests.
