Rachel Flynn, 2020 Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence Winner

Rachel Flynn (Library) was selected as the 2020 recipient of the Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence. Presented each year at the final faculty meeting, this award recognizes a Gustavus non-tenure-track faculty member for significant contributions to teaching and learning.

Julie Gilbert (Library) published Daisy and the Deadly Flu: A 1918 Influenza Survival Story. The middle-grade novel is part of the Girls Survive series from Stone Arch Books. The novel focuses on the influenza pandemic’s real-life impact on southern Minnesota, especially the community of New Ulm.
