As you know from the recent college-wide communications, we are engaged in proactive planning surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19). As part of that process, we are considering precautionary scenarios that range from small-scale employee/student illness to campus closure.
In preparation of a possible scenario where we encourage or require use of technology to deliver course content for a limited period of time, Gustavus Technology Services will be providing two information sessions on “Classroom Technology Resources for Faculty” on Tuesday, March 10 from 2:00-3:00 pm and Friday, March 13 from 1:30-2:30 pm in Olin Hall 103. During these identical sessions, faculty will learn basic information about:
- Moodle
- Google Meet
- Virtual Lab
- Lecture capture and other Screencast tools
GTS will also be setting up a Moodle online course for faculty to learn more about these resources. This online course will be ready for sign-up on Tuesday, March 10, 2020; please contact Marni Dunning (mdunning@gustavus.edu) for more information.
In collaboration with Human Resources, GTS will also be offering several technology information sessions that are focused on non-faculty employees during the week of March 16, 2020. The details about these sessions will be publicized next week.
Gustavus is taking these precautionary measures seriously and continually assessing the possible risk to members of our community. We will continue to keep students, faculty, and staff informed as the COVID-19 situation evolves. Please visit the Gustavus Health Service website for more information, including links and a COVID-19 FAQ page.
